Immersive View for Routes combines the best of Street View, aerial imagery and live data to provide a stunning, photo-realistic top-down view of your planned route.

By leveraging the power of AI, this feature seamlessly integrates real-time information about weather and traffic conditions, allowing you to make informed decisions and plan your journeys with confidence.

Starting this week, Immersive View for Routes will be rolling out to Android and iOS devices in 15 cities – Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dublin, Florence, Las Vegas, London, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Paris, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Tokyo and Venice.

If you want to access this feature, simply tap on the Immersive View for Routes card in the bottom-left corner of any route you have planned in the Google Maps app.

Google Maps is also introducing several other AI-powered enhancements to its search function, making it more intuitive and user-friendly than ever before.

The app will now feature photo-first results for searches, leveraging AI-powered analysis of billions of user-shared photos to provide visually appealing and informative results. Whether you’re searching for “animal latte art” or looking for things to do in a specific area, Google Maps will deliver a curated list of visually stunning options, making it easier to discover and explore new places
For those who prefer to explore their surroundings on foot, Google Maps’ AR-powered “Lens in Maps” feature is expanding to dozens of new cities, including Austin, Las Vegas, Rome, São Paulo, and Taipei. This feature allows you to point your phone’s camera at your surroundings and see real-time labels for nearby restaurants, ATMs, stations and landmarks, making navigation a breeze even in unfamiliar territory.
Drivers can also look forward to improved navigation features, such as clearer lane details and the addition of HOV (High-occupancy vehicle) lanes in the US, as well as speed limit information for 20 new European countries. These updates, expected to roll out in the coming months, will provide drivers with even more accurate and reliable guidance, helping them reach their destinations with ease.
Electric vehicle owners will also benefit from enhanced charging station information, with Maps now displaying compatibility, charging speed, and real-time usage data for charging stations. This feature promises to save time and reduce stress by helping EV drivers find reliable and available charging options along their routes.

Enable location services to allow Maps to provide accurate and personalized recommendations.
